There are several monks that lost faith or were lured to the dark side, but the Dark Monks form an own secret order whose goals lie in the shadow. Not much is known about their agenda or where they have come from. The official brotherhoods of monks deny any knowledge about this special order. It is commonly assumed that Dark Monks serve some evil power since they react hostile to most people and attack them on sight. Their fighting style clearly indicates a training in martial arts and they even use a small array of spells of which some, like draining of life-force, point to a darker purpose of their order.

Level: 75/75 Not very recomended to level to at them.
Dark monks are hard for a knight. They are a bit harder then monks. Or at least more waste. You need good skills to kill them and monks are better to kill. Well it's just big waste for worse exp but you can still kill them if you want. If you don't got good skills you should kill them with GFB since they usually come in groups and together with creatures like assassins and witches. Use your GFB fast even at higher skills. At skills 55/55 you can try to meele them with your best two hander with 45 or more attack. Since dark monks heal and do life drain it will be the same waste to use one hander than using two hander. You will waste 0-2 UHs per dark monk. At skills 75/75 with your best two hander you can kill dark monk with only 0-1 UH. Also use GFB at group of assassins,dark monks and witches.

Level 35+: You can solo them at level 35+ with some bolts, but you need to know how to run them if you go to the second floor of dark cathedral. They often appear with assassins and witches. Try to take the spawn right of the stairs and run around the stairs. They are fast and they heal. Watch out for lurers that can lure assassins and witches while you run them. Always take your dwarven ring with you when hunting them.
Level 45+: At level 45+ it's more economic to hunt them because you are faster and you take them out with less bolts. The exp is quite good. You can try to take them out on bigger spawns together with witches and assassins and maybe mummies and ghosts. Have dwarven ring and alot of great fireballs with you.

Items needed (for a safe hunt):
* At least 1 backpack of IH
* At least 1 backpack of GFB
* At least 1 backpack of UH
* At least 2 backpack of manafluids
* Some sudden death runes in hard situations
* At least 1 backpack of HMM
* 1-2 convince creature runes
Introduction: Dark monks are piece of cake for a mage that got a blocker or summons/convinces. But they often come together with witches and assassins and often in big groups.
Hunting with blocker:
As a mage you should hunt dark monks with blocker if you can't summon monks or convince dark monks. It can be a big waste for you and the blocker but you will get nice exp. Let the blocker stand and meet the creatures while you shoot with your strongest rod or wand together with maybe HMMs or exori vis. As you will see soon the dark monks come in groups and together with creatures like witches and assassins. So be quick with using GFB if you find a group of them. Always have dwarven ring on you.
Hunting solo:
There are few methods how to hunt dark monks solo. The best method is convincing 2 dark monks or summoning 2 monks. Or summoning 1 monk and a dark monk. This is a nice method since meeting dark monks alone together with assassins and witches can be deadly. Just let the monks/dark monks stand and do the work for you while you shoot your wand/rod at the dark monks, assassins. Witches can be a problem so try to make the witches come to your dark monk or monk and they quickly attack the witch. You may use HMM at the assassins since assassins can make themselves invisable. Always shoot your GFB runes when killing a group of creatures down there or try to kill them one by one. A group of assassins, dark monks and witches can kill your summons fast so also use IHs or UHs to heal them. Try to have your mana shield on most of the time.
What you should do if you are sorounded by assassins and dark monks at other creatures there:
First of all use your manashield fast and try to get yourself out of there and go up the stairs or GFB like 2-3 times so the creatures get killed.
Safety rules:
* It's much safer to use your mana shield than losing your hitpoints since mages don't got much hitpoints but much mana.
* Always keep your backpacks of GFB, manafluids, IHs and UHs open so you can use them quickly.
* Always use GFB if you find a group of creatures in deeper dark cathedral.
* Don't meet them in close except you use exori vis ,mana shield and got blocker.
* Don't go to dangerous parts of dark cathedral alone.
Attacks:
1. Close combat
Dark monks got very strong close combat. They can hit 60-80 damage sometimes. Even 100 in some situations. They also can combo with life drain. For a paladin or mage that got weak defence dark monks can be deadly. Even knights with good skills can waste much on dark monks. They usually come in groups and together with assassins and witches. So knights can die easy because they come in groups. If you go hunt them take a dwarven ring with you since assassins can make you drunk.
2. Life drain
Dark monks don't only attack with close combat vut also with life drain. They use life drain when they meet you in close combat. You cannot protect yourself against it and you can get damaged by it alot. The normal damage with it's life drain is 20-60. But sometimes it can do 80 damage with it. So dark monks can hit 180 damage per turn max.
3. Healing
Dark monks got healing and normal monks got it too. Dark monks use healing from time to time. It can really be waste to hunt them even when keeping distance from it. Since they heal for example paladins need to use extra bolts or mages extra HMM charges and wand/rod shots. And it's of course total waste for knights.
4. Haste
Dark monks are hard to outrun. They are so fast like monks I think. Haste makes them very fast. Don't hunt them at lower levels as a paladin or mage since they can use haste and kill you in close combat fast. You should have BoH and level 40+ to outrun them easy. Since it takes long time to kill them you will have to wait until you can outrun them as a paladin or mage or you can die easy.
