avergae mlvl and problems with my rod

hiho
i´m a recent 26 lvl druid and i have just bought my quagmire rod, but it doesn´t work .
somebody knows why?, could my mlvl (32) affect in my rod?.
Which is the average mlvl for a mage? is my mlvl too low?

Maybe you don't have enough mana. As you can see here every shot with a Quagmire rod uses 8 mana. There can also be only 1 square between you and the monster, else the rod won't shoot. Magic lvl doesn't afflict the rods.

Maybe, you was killing monster immune to poison. Or maybe things like fox said.
