Your mother doesn't has to complain about you, you don't play much. Btw let her read this: Tibia in real newspaper (updated by Anderslash) Yesterday, the newspaper Zero Hora which you can find online also here from Porto Alegre/Brasil published an article about Tibia. The article says the game can be important in the education of the children, because they can learn how to deal with a lot of situations we can find in real life, solving problems and etc. Also, playing Tibia, the english can be improved. Down you can find the full article. Game Fever Among the Childrens Your son does not stop playing computers? Hopefully he will be playing Tibia, an interactive program that has thousands of fans among the kids and young players. DOwnloable for free from sites like www.tibia.com and www.tibiabr.com, the game can be an interesting tool for the education of the youngsters.
Tibia is some sort of an online roleplaying game that doesnt have a clear end: each player makes his character to grow endlessly, spending time developing its characteristics as he is lead through a fictious world. This way, a character earns "experience" that is reverted as strenght and intelligence.
The game, developed in Germany and usign english as main language, is also used as chat for users worldwide. The players can talk and try to solve problems together. The brothers Gonçalves Dias Ponzi, 10 years old, and the twints Vinicius and Camila, of 12 years old, discovered Tibia on holidays and they share their keyboard to play.
"The game is very instructive because it simulates situations that they can experience. They make friends, they learn how to defend themselves, exchange goodies and also, they practice their english by checking dictionaries", says the teacher and nutricionist Mirian. "Not always the game is easy... Gabriela complained recently about a thief. She was trading in order to buy a shield from other player, through virtual money they can put into a bag".
Another common situation are PKs, Player-Killers, other players playing a very competitive role that destroys the life of other characters. However, it is not a violent game, Tibia mixes modern life resources with the most simple things in life: it is needed to hunt and fish to survive.
More than simple simulations of society life and funny english lessons, the better appeal of the game is to serve as virtual meeting point.
"The coolest thing is to make friends", says Camila.
In the official site of the game, a poll reveals that the users spends three to four times in front of the computer. In the Ponzi's house, the playing time is limited to weekends. The especialists alerts about the dangers of addiction in this activity that, lets not forget, awakens the most competitive instints of players.
"The kids I interviewed criticised Tibia for being addicted. It is an accelerated stimuli to win: to gain levels, to be better than others", comments the psicologist Lea da Cruz Fagundes.
